Returning to college to earn my MBA has been a transformative journey. It is much like the story of the eagle breaking off its own beak and talons to renew itself. Although the story of the “eagle’s renewal” is found to be a myth. It’s story none the less is quite inspiring. This decision to return to college at the ripe old age of fifty five is unique. It comes at a time when many people, including myself, choose the comfort of routine. It has been both daunting and exhilarating. It has required a willingness to strip away the familiar and face the vulnerability of starting anew.
The first day back in the classroom has been a mix of excitement and trepidation. Here I am, surrounded by younger faces, each one radiating energy and ambition. I have felt like an outsider, unsure if I can keep up or if I even belonged. But something inside me whispers that this is my time to soar again.
There are moments when the weight of assignments and deadlines feels overwhelming, like a storm threatening to pull me down. But each challenge teaches me resilience. I’m learning to navigate through, finding strength in my experiences and wisdom in my years. My journey is not just about acquiring new skills; it is about rediscovering my potential.
Every lecture and group discussion reminds me that growth is not reserved for the young. It is a lifelong process, one that can reignite our passions and propel us toward new heights. The friendships I form with classmates and professors are unexpected gifts. They bridge the gap between generations and teach me that learning is a shared journey.
In many ways, this return to college has been my own renewal. It has been an opportunity to shed the old and embrace the new. This comes with all its uncertainties and possibilities. Like the eagle, I am feeling prepared to soar once more. I am equipped with fresh perspectives and a renewed sense of purpose. This journey reminds me that it’s never too late to reinvent oneself. We can always rise from the familiar and reach for the skies anew.
